Music of the Jews during the Holocaust by Tamar Machado-Recanati of Yad vaShem

We will talk about the music the Jews created, played and sang by their own will during the Holocaust through two different topics:

1. The orchestras in ghettos and transit camps
2. The songs of the Jews during the Holocaust

We will listen to songs that were created during the Holocaust.

Tamar Machado-Recanati is a music therapist and musicologist. She started researching the music of the Jews during the Holocaust 26 years ago. She researches and lectures at Yad vaShem and was the musicologist of the team that created the new Museum that opened in 2005 in Yad vaShem.
She was born in Paris, France and made Aliyah 50 years ago.
