If as planned the Government of Unity is formed on Sunday, it will for the first time consist of parties from the extreme right, the centre and the extreme left plus an Islamist Arab party. Will it last for a full term?

There will not be a Haredi religious party in this government, a huge departure from the past. Will this strengthen the hand of non-religious parties to make the country more liberal?

The glue holding all these parties together is that they are all anti-Netanyahu. As long as Bibi is head of the opposition, the parties are likely to cooperate as they are in the best position they have been for years. Another election could put them all back in opposition.

The new government plans to pass a law to stop Netanyahu from ever running as PM again. Will this succeed?

BIG changes are coming, probably.

To help us answer these questions, and many more, GFI has re-invited James Marlow, who presented a zoom event before the election. GFI has asked him to return, to tell us what is happening now that the election is over.

James has a background of almost 40 years in broadcasting and journalism and has covered Israeli Elections since the eighties. He has extensive knowledge of the parties, candidates, Proportional Representation voting system and analysing coalition agreements. He is currently a weekly columnist with the Jewish Weekly, which is the only newspaper outside of Israel that has such a huge coverage of the Israeli General Election.
