From Berlin to Birmingham: an archaeology of a family artefact
Discover the history behind this bronze portrait bust of Dr Alex Hale’s great-grandmother, Johanna. Sadly, Johanna did not survive the Holocaust, but since then Dr Hale and his family have been piecing together her fascinating and tragic story. This is an interdisciplinary project that includes art history, archaeology and digital technology to explore family heritage, our attitudes to archives and the transformative potential of community engagement through art and objects.
