February 16

Free

We are fortunate indeed to welcome to the Lit a former Ambassador of Israel to the USA and chief negotiator with Syria in the 1990s, Itamar Rabinovich.

Following his diplomatic postings, between 1999 and 2007 Itamar Rabinovich was the president of Tel Aviv University where he is currently Professor Emeritus of Middle Eastern history. He is also distinguished global professor at New York University and a distinguished fellow at the Brookings Institution.

Professor Rabinovich is the author of a number of books on Syria, Lebanon and peace making initiatives in the region. His biography of Yitzhak Rabin was published in the Jewish Lives series in 2017. His most recent book was published in 2023 by the Brookings Institution Press and is entitled ‘Middle Eastern Maze: Israel, the Arabs and the Region 1948-2022.

Who better to lead us through this maze at this time with an analysis of what’s really going on in Gaza, Israel and Middle East?

Since this talk is by Zoom, please let us know by Friday as to whether you wish to attend and we shall give you details of the Zoom address for logging in on Sunday.
