Yiddish Songs & More!
Phil Alexander and Stephanie Brickman
in conversation with David Ian Neville
Composer and musician Phil Alexander and singer Stephanie Brickman discuss their musical roots and passions. Together they formed The Yiddish Song Project, to rediscover and explore Yiddish and Jewish music.
Phil Alexander is a British Academy Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow, where he looks at historical Jewish-Scottish musical encounters. He is a busy musician, leading the acclaimed band Moishe’s Bagel and performing regularly with many of the UK’s finest folk and jazz musicians.
Stephanie Brickman is a journalist, communications professional, singer, mother, wife, sister and daughter in no particular order. She grew up in the north of England but counts herself to be from Edinburgh because she lived there longer than anywhere else and it’s marginally more glamorous than Harrogate, North Yorkshire. She was educated at University of Edinburgh and Université de Paris, Dauphine.
This will be an event on Zoom (many thanks to SCoJeC for providing their facilities so that we can have more than 100 registrations) and will be recorded. Join the event from 7.30pm for a 7.45pm start.
