UK Jewish Film Festival 2022 – We Might as Well be Dead – 8.40pm

15th November 2022

UK JEWISH FILM FESTIVAL IN GLASGOW – WE MIGHT AS WELL BE DEAD

director Natalia Sinelnikova  country Germany year 2022 duration 94 min

+Q&A with director Natalia Sinelnikova

Highly selective and sought after, a German apartment complex purports to offer its lucky residents a perfectly holistic living experience. But when a tenant’s dog mysteriously disappears and Iris, the daughter of Jewish security guard Anna, starts believing she is demon-possessed, the idyllic neighbourly atmosphere soon turns into collective paranoia. Natalia Sinelnikova’s brilliant directorial debut is a witty, Orwellian socio-political satire.

“Perhaps the most remarkable thing about Natalia Sinelnikova’s assured debut – which features a magnetic central performance by Romanian actress Ioana Iacob – is that it’s her Babelsberg Film University graduation project” – Screen Daily
