SUMMARY:UK Jewish Film Festival 2022 - Who's Afraid of Jewish Humour? 6pm
DESCRIPTION:UK JEWISH FILM FESTIVAL IN GLASGOW – WHO’S AFRAID OF JEWISH HUMOUR? \n\nCountry Germany    Year  2022   Duration  72 min\n\n\n\nFrom Hershel of Ostropol to Lenny Bruce\, Ephraim Kishon to Mel Brooks\, if there is one thing that unites all Jews\, it is their self-deprecating\, hilarious sense of humour\, or so the myth goes. In this new documentary\, filmmakers Jascha Hannover’s (Hollywood’s Second World War) and Arkadij Kahet’s (Masel Tov Cocktail) set out to explore the origins of Jewish humour\, tracing the use of irony and satire back to the Bible. Featuring archival footage from around the globe and comedy experts from Europe and Israel\, Who’s Afraid of Jewish Humour? celebrates a very long tradition of Jews being seriously and agonisingly funny. \nPart of the Alan Howard International Documentary Film Strand \nAlso sponsored by \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\nbook now \n\n\n\n\n\n\nUK Jewish Film is a registered charity (No 1072914). \nUK Jewish Film is dedicated to developing an environment in which Jewish film entertains\, educates and enlightens diverse audiences in the UK and internationally. Throughout the year we bring the best of world cinema\, provide support and training to new and emerging filmmakers\, and produce education events including exploring holocaust\, genocide\, racism and interfaith themes with a variety of audiences including students and young people.

SUMMARY:UK Jewish Film Festival 2022 - We Might as Well be Dead - 8.40pm
DESCRIPTION:UK JEWISH FILM FESTIVAL IN GLASGOW – WE MIGHT AS WELL BE DEAD \n\ndirector Natalia Sinelnikova  country Germany year 2022 duration 94 min\n\n\n\n+Q&A with director Natalia Sinelnikova \nHighly selective and sought after\, a German apartment complex purports to offer its lucky residents a perfectly holistic living experience. But when a tenant’s dog mysteriously disappears and Iris\, the daughter of Jewish security guard Anna\, starts believing she is demon-possessed\, the idyllic neighbourly atmosphere soon turns into collective paranoia. Natalia Sinelnikova’s brilliant directorial debut is a witty\, Orwellian socio-political satire. \n“Perhaps the most remarkable thing about Natalia Sinelnikova’s assured debut – which features a magnetic central performance by Romanian actress Ioana Iacob – is that it’s her Babelsberg Film University graduation project” – Screen Daily \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\nbook now\n\n\n\n\n\nUK Jewish Film is a registered charity (No 1072914). \nUK Jewish Film is dedicated to developing an environment in which Jewish film entertains\, educates and enlightens diverse audiences in the UK and internationally.
