SUMMARY:Shavuot Willow Weaving - 11am - 2pm
DESCRIPTION:Join us  as we celebrate the early summer harvest festival of Shavuot. During this time\, Jewish people traditionally brought their harvest offerings to the Temple in Jerusalem. To mark this\, we’ll be learning to weave our own willow trays\, led by experienced basketmaker Max Johnson – https://maxjohnsonbasketry.co.uk/. \nThis event is intended for members of the Jewish community\, from all denominations\, Jewish affiliations and backgrounds\, including non-Jewish partners and family members. You’re welcome regardless of your level of Jewish observance or community involvement\, we’d love to get to know you! This event is open to those aged 12 and up\, although anyone under the age of 18 must attend with an adult who is also registered. If you’re not connected to the Jewish community at all\, please be in touch with Max directly to hear about other workshops for the general public. \nLight snacks will be served (gluten\, dairy\, kosher\, vegetarian)\, as well as hot drinks\, but not a full meal. Please be in touch with any questions or dietary requests. \nThe venue is fully accessible\, with level access and an accessible toilet. Willow weaving is a physical activity that requires you to use your hands – although it is very doable and Max will guide us through all the steps. No prior knowledge is needed. Please be in touch with any further questions. \nExact location and recommended transit links will be sent to registered participants. The location is accessible by both bus and train\, and there is free parking on site. \nNote that only 20 tickets are available\, and we expect them to go quickly\, so please do book soon. If this is your first Jewish community event\, you’re very welcome\, but we will need to check in for security purposes. If this is the case\, please book by Sunday\, April 19\, to allow time for this. If we’re not able to get in touch with you by email\, we may need to cancel your ticket. \nThis event is made possible through a Limmud microgrant\, thanks for supporting us!
