We’ll examine tactics used by opponents of climate science\, and their close similarities to those employed to promote Brexit\, Trump\, and most recently non-compliance with Covid rules\, often by the exact same people.

SUMMARY:Virtual Yiddish Open Mic
DESCRIPTION:Yiddish is the language of the Jews of Eastern Europe . It’s not spoken much now outside of ultra-orthodox Jewish communities\, yet there is a strong secular Yiddish revival across the world. The Yiddish Open Mic cafe that happens monthly in London offers a space where anyone with an interest in Yiddish can be sociable\, entertained and participate in a receptive\, warm\, friendly\, mainly Yiddish language environment. Yiddish is the main language on stage\, however everything is translated into English\, either projected as text\, sent as a PDF to use online\, or translated on the spot! \nVivi\, Arturo and Tamara of the Yiddish Open Mic Cafe had planned to tour Scotland in May with the special Open-Mic blend of Yiddish songs\, poems\, jokes\, stories\, games\, both serious and funny\, reflecting lives of the Yiddishlands of the past and the present. \nInstead of the tour\, they will be compering a special Scottish Virtual Yiddish Open Mic\, and inviting all Scottish Yiddishists and Yiddish-lovers to add their voices to the mix with contributions. A number of people are already signed up\, but it’s not too late to do so\, just email Fiona@scojec.org and we’ll send you more info. \nIf you just want to watch and soak in the atmosphere\, that’s great and it will be an entertaining\, fascinating\, participatory and fun evening. \nTo book for the evening which is on Sunday 26th April at 7 p.m. for 7.30 go to https://www.trybooking.co.uk/RIT . FREE but donations welcome.
